Senior Research Assistant with Vanderbilt University (Franklin, TN)
Assist drug discovery scientists. Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, monitor experiments, collect data and samples, make observations, and calculate and record results. May analyze organic substances, such as blood, food, and drugs.
Supports ongoing drug discovery projects by generating and interpreting drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics data. Conducts and assists with a multitude of cellular-based and enzymatic in vitro DMPK assays. Maintains cell lines to support in vitro DMPK assays and record, compile, interpret and communicate results. Follows University safety protocols, which may include the use of combustibles, biohazardous materials and fluids/tissues and carcinogens. Operates and maintains high-throughput, semi-automated analytical instruments. Prepares reports and communicates results as needed. Maintaining up to date, accurate and standardized records of experiments/assays. Assists with general laboratory operations,
including ordering supplies and consumables.
Requirements: Requires a Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field. Position requires 2 years of related experience, which must include some experience in each of the following skills: Proficiency in cell culture; Performing in vitro assays; General laboratory techniques (accurate use of pipettes, performing calculations involving molarity, % solutions, serial dilutions, and handling of biological matrices); General understanding of laboratory instrument use; and Competency with data analysis and interpretation.
