The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is happy toshare that we have an opening for a Senior Alumni Relations Officer ! The pay range for this position is$76,000-90,000 per year , depending on the qualifications and experience that the finalist brings to theposition. The position will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule , with 2-3 days per week working on site inMinneapolis and the remaining days working remotely. As a professional on Development & Alumni Relations team, this position isprimarily responsible for developing a growing and active, informed, engaged, spirited and supportive alumni body.
You'll focus onbuilding life-long associations by engaging alumni and students in relationship-building and alumni-related activities. You'll provideservices for our alumni and donors that build and facilitate their connections to the School by engaging them in meaningful and valuableactivities.
You'll also be involved in campaign initiatives that support our fundraising efforts, with the goal of designing andimplementing alumni and development efforts that advocate for and benefit the School of Dentistry.
Duties andResponsibilities Event Planning and Execution (40%) Plan, staff, promote, and coordinateevents, including Alumni Weekend, regional receptions, campaign events, reunions, and anniversary celebrations. Represent the Schoolof Dentistry at various external functions on campus, within the Twin Cities, and at select state and nationalmeetings. Volunteer Management and Relationship Building (30%) Manage all aspects of the School ofDentistry Alumni Society Board. Including volunteer recruitment and management, meeting management, alumni events, and strategicplanning. Develop and manage relationships with alumni and donors to promote and encourage involvement in schoolinitiatives. Communications and Recognition (15%) Identify outstanding alumni worthy of school- anduniversity-wide recognition through various awards programs, driving nomination calendar and process in partnership with the Dean's Office,and the Alumni Association. Collaborate with the School's Development Officers to help foster support among alumni anddonors. Write and coordinate general alumni communications for distribution to alumni. Provide information and input on thecontent of the School of Dentistry's annual Dentistry magazine, monthly email publications Dental Bites and Second Tuesday; collect andcompile information, and write short alumni news items. Identify story ideas, photos, and provide draft copy in coordination withthe School of Dentistry web manager for posting on the School of Dentistry web site and social media sites. ProgramDevelopment and Delivery (10%) Serve as primary liaison between the UMAA, School of Dentistry, and School of DentistryAlumni Society (SODAS) to ensure mutual understanding and support of each organization's priorities and programs. Develop annual andlong-term strategic plans that connect alumni and build their affinity to the School. Implement programmatic initiatives to enhanceinvolvement opportunities across the alumni network, including devising segmentation strategies and offerings that capitalize on sub-groupsof the alumni population. Form strong working relationships with internal and external partners. Respond to various alumniand donor requests, questions, and communications. Technology and Data Management (5%) Manage alumniupdates and ensure data integrity for the Data Management System. Manage mass email delivery to alumni and donors using theUniversity supported mass email tool (Salesforce Marketing Cloud) Oversee standards for data privacy andintegrity. Proactively report on progress and challenges in annual and long-term goals, and assist the Lead Development Officer asrequested in budget, personnel and program development matters. Annually develop and provide a detailed budget. Handleother duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications RequiredQualifications (please detail these on your application materials): Bachelor's degree At least 6 years ofsuccess in alumni relations, development, fundraising, or closely-related field that includes extensive volunteer management, withprogressive responsibility in a complex, fast-paced organization. Ability to participate in occasional regional and national traveland attend some weekend and evening events. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated success in workingindependently, but also collaboratively in a team setting Experience working with data management systems, SalesForce MarketingCloud, and related technologies Experience in alumni and/or development experience in higher education Success in recruitingvolunteers and volunteer board management Ability to find opportunities for population segmentation and relationship buildingthrough development of innovative programming About the Department The University of MinnesotaSchool of Dentistry is the state's only dental school and the only dental school in the northern tier of states between Wisconsinand the Pacific Northwest. We are a regional resource to five states for dental education, consulting services, patient treatment, andongoing continuing dental education. We educate dentists, dental specialists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, dentaleducators and research-scientists. We offer advanced degree programs in seven ADA-recognized specialties: endodontics, oral andmaxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics and TMD and orofacial pain. We educate scholars inoral biology, dental hygiene and oral health for older adults. Dentists from other countries who wish to practice in the United Statesmatriculate through our Program for Advanced Standing Students. Learners have the option to pursue a Masters in Public Health or a PhDalongside their DDS degree. We are the only dental hygiene program in the state associated with a dental school. Offering programs at the baccalaureate and master of science level, our integrated program prepares oral health professionals to collaboratefrom their first day in the profession. We became the first dental school in the nation to educate dental therapists in2009.  Dental therapists perform basic preventative services, drill and restore teeth for children and adults and remove primaryteeth under the supervision of a licensed dentist. As of 2023, we have graduated 91 dental therapists from the program. Ourwork affects virtually every person in Minnesota. We educate approximately 73% of the state's practicing dentists, 68% of licenseddental therapists, and 49% of dental hygiene educators. Our researchers develop and test restorative materials used by dentists around theworld. We provide critical oral health care with more than 100,000 patient visits in our campus clinics and more than 16,000 patient visitsat outreach sites in underserved communities throughout the state. We provide continuing dental education for 7,1000 practicing dentalprofessionals each year. The School of Dentistry is dedicated to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusiveworkplace.
