Senior Program Manager, Hospitality Location Kohler, WI : Work Mode: Onsite Location: Kohler, WI
Opportunity The Senior Program Manager is responsible for formulating a Project Management Office (PMO) & providing project management leadership and decision support to the PMO, coordinating a single shared project list across functional groups. The Senior Program Manager is responsible for the total product portfolio management as well as the capital project portfolio management (Note - the approval of Capital plans and priorities are set by the Executive Leadership Team). The Senior Program Manager is responsible for the forming and leading of cross-functional teams to successfully lead projects which support the Hospitality strategic plan, including the launch of new products or significant capital projects including facility expansions or improvements. This position is responsible for the development of project schedules and the execution of such projects within the set timeframe and budget and to report out progress and potential risks to the Executive Leadership Team. Responsibility includes leading multiple projects and overall budget responsibility of the project.
Specific Responsibilities Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the PMO team, their performance, and the Hospitalities project management process. Monitors projects evolution, resolves barriers and drives to project completion according to agreed to goals and metrics. Plans, manages and assigns PMO resources to projects. Assignments based upon project characteristics of complexity, scope and experience required. Plans and manages workload of program managers. Direct and mentor project managers to ensure approved projects/programs are completed in a timely and efficient manner, and that PM's meet the business needs set forth in the project/program specifications while ensuring compliance to project management methodology (e.g. standards, policies, best practices, templates, etc.) Establish a common set of project management processes, tools, and reporting functions and maintain the project management methodology (e.g. standards, policies, templates, etc.). Forecast resource utilization and capacity to achieve optimal staffing ratios and workflows within the Program Management team. Establish and maintain a resource planning process to allocate resources to approved project/program based upon ranked priority. Re-forecast project timelines and/or identify additional resources requirements as project/program's scope changes. Develops project managers (many of them indirect team members functioning as PM) by training PM and business management skills. Mentors and develops program managers with focus on skill enhancement and program execution. Counsels Program managers on recommendations for implementing practices to improve the overall delivery of projects and increase the effectiveness of NPD Program Mangers. Manage & facilitate cross functional teams through the phases of project definition, initial concept, product development, product validation, launch, and audit. Execute gate reviews for each project phase. Monitor and maintain budgetary control of the projects within the PMO, including capital, expense, and development budgets. Develop and monitor project schedules and adhere to the hospitality product development process. Manage tasks within each phase of a project. Assist project staff in identifying, characterizing, and quantifying risks to project success and discusses appropriate risk mitigation. Provide performance expectations and evaluations for cross functional team members and share with functional supervisor. Communicate to senior management on project status, process and technical issues. Provide management with reports, metrics, tools, etc., that illustrate the status of each project Define decision-making process for development teams. Coach development team personnel to develop and implement cross-functional solutions to complex issues. Make informed decisions in the event that the project team cannot. Decisions made are critical and have significant financial and schedule impact to the project. Perform post-implementation reviews; customer and product manager surveys. Work with management and project teams to continually improve the NPD process and organization. Audit various projects to insure proper processes and methodologies are being followed and determine areas where improvement is needed on future projects. Oversee the development of White Papers, ACTs and Capital Plan input to assure consistency with Strategic and Financial Plans. Maintain and lead implementation of capital projects for improvements to manufacturing equipment, processes and new product developments. Provide guidance on processes and leadership of project management to other businesses within Kohler Skills/Requirements Bachelor's degree in a product development related discipline (e.g. Engineering, Engineering Management, Manufacturing, Marketing or Business Administration) MBA, Master's degree in Project Management, or PMP certification preferred 10+ years of experience in product development project management Lean or Agile project management experience preferred 5+ years of experience in hospitality preferred (F&B, Rooms, Services, etc) The salary range for this position is $125,700 - $160,600. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
