Apply knowledge of electric theory and electronic principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.Job Responsibilities1. Plan details of working procedure by determining replacement needs or new material required and develop a logical approach to correct the problem.2. Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service, or replace electronic devices and systems.3. Receive wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions from supervisor and schedule repairs, installation, and electrical inspection work to be performed.4. Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials, and principles of operation of electrical equipment. Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with MSHA and OSHA requirements.5. Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.6. Installs, repairs, and maintains communication cables, power distribution cables. Splice pieces as required.7. Fabricate parts if not commercially available, using machine and hand tools common to the trade.8. Determine need for, analyze, and make necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls.9. Advise and caution operator and mechanics about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.10. Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.11. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.12. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.13. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.14. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.15. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.16. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.17. Perform other duties as required.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write, perform simple mathematics, and maintain neat and accurate records. Must have solid knowledge of electrical theory. Vocational school or technical college training in electrical & instrumentation or equivalent experience. SkillsHigh degree of attention, care, and precision working with minimum tolerances required. Must have solid verbal and written communication skills. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends. Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
