Title: Senior IT Project Manager (Agile/GIS) – Consultant
Location: San Francisco, CA
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire (3 months)
Compensation: $70-80/hour
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
Manager Notes:
Agile methodology, Scrum and GIS experience are all required for this role. Client wants a resource on a 3-month trial contract and then will be seeking to hire this candidate directly.
Position Summary:
Leads a team that develops new applications, designs, and installs new IT technical architecture and infrastructure systems, or enhances existing systems. Assembles the project team and utilizes the provided cost and scheduling tools to define the scope, budget, and resource needs, and controlling other project variables. Functions as a liaison between IT and the Business Client. Acts as the go-to person that represents the entire project from the planning through to the deployment stage.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately and consistently forecasting project resource, material, and contract costs within a standard tool(s).
• Assessing project performance and implementing changes as necessary to ensure the projects remains within specified cost, schedule, scope, and quality objectives.
• Clearly defining and communicating roles, responsibilities, and expectations for all members of the project team.
• Communicating individual project roles and expectations.
• Communicating status of all projects to stakeholders and management.
• Conducting and site visits, as necessary.
• Conducting project kick-off meetings.
• Coordinating any required contract work within defined company policy.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical competence.
• Developing and maintaining a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors, and key clients.
• Developing and maintaining up-to-date detailed project schedules and work plans.
• Developing metrics, procedures, objectives, and methods to assess project progress while using established standards and quality objectives.
• Driving all project related tasks to completion.
• Ensuring all project team members have the tools and training necessary to perform effectively.
• Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad/moderate scope and high complexity.
• Functioning in a process-oriented environment.
• Gathering, defining, and documenting project requirements.
• Help mentor less experienced PMs.
• Independently planning all associated work to meet project goals.
• Monitoring critical project milestones and identifying ways to resolve schedule issues.
• Obtaining and defining staffing requirements and forming project teams.
• Preparing all project documentation for closure, storage, and possible auditing activities, ensuring technical accuracy.
• Providing direction and leadership to project management analysts and schedulers.
• Recording, tracking, and communicating issues, risks, changes, and status reports within a standard tool.
• Resolving problems of project specific scope within procedural guidelines.
• Responsible for leading one or more projects typically between $100,000 - $5,000,000.
• Responsible for the concurrent management of one or more small to medium to moderately complex projects.
• These projects are one-time, multitask jobs that have clearly defined start and end dates, a specific scope of work, a budget, required resources, and a specified performance objective to be achieved.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years' experience managing one or more moderately complex IT product/software development cycles/projects.
• Experience with IT professional service agreements and materials logistics.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or qualifying work experience and certification within first year.
• Experience managing large budgets in excess of $1M.
Desired:
• Experience as Project Manager, journey-level.
• Scrum Master experience.
• 3 years GIS Technology experience.
• Electric Utility experience.
• Strong financial acumen with 5+ years' experience with budgets exceeding $5M.
