Job summary
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Senior EstimatorLeadership, coordination, and final preparation of full estimates on large and complex work projectsExcellent communication skills and ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Organize, plan, and schedule estimate preparation• Lead teams of estimators on large projects• Facilitate necessary meetings for estimate completion• Assign work and ensure complete and reliable estimate• Prepare trade partner strategy and invitation to bid• Obtain relevant documents including BIM for quantity survey• Ensure completion of changes discussed in estimate reviews• Mitigate risk to project budget and margin• Determine site logistics and prepare general requirements estimate• Utilize cost history and provide value analysis• Prepare and manage Bid Day• Prepare estimate presentation to design team and owner• Electronically file appropriate documents• Perform cost studies and assist design team in steering design to budget• Prepare self-performed work scopes and allocate/report costs• Record final estimate and costs for future use• Maintain communication and relationships with project stakeholders• Lead and manage other team members• Participate in group estimating meetings and company initiatives• Maintain industry knowledge and stay updated on best practices
Requirements
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Engineering, or Construction Management• Minimum nine years construction industry experience• Detail orientation and ability to manage multiple projects• Expertise with building and estimating techniques and software• Able to lead teams and quantify work using BIM and project documents• Knowledge of building systems, contract types, and pricing• Ability to mitigate risk and maintain quality of data• Strong coaching and mentoring skills• Understanding of construction law and business practices• Positive attitude and strong customer service skills• Ability to travel up to 20%
