Job Duties VDOT's Staunton District is seeking a highly qualified Senior Electronic Technician for their Traffic Maintenance Division. The qualified candidate will ensure VDOT Traffic Management Center ITS equipment is properly maintained by in-house and maintenance contractors as well as ensure compliance with all established safety standards, VDOT policies and procedures, and ITS equipment operational standards. Specifically, you will:
• Monitor maintenance activities in assigned shop area. Perform responsive maintenance to include testing and troubleshooting at system level, unit level, board level and component level.
• Perform routine operations or equipment verifications. Perform first response work related to testing and diagnostics and providing same day repair (when parts are available).
• Maintain spare units and replacement parts.
• Perform work order requests as required based on the priority statuses.
• Monitor and inspect contractor work.
• Assist Contract Administrator in tracking inspection and contractor work records. Prepare weekly and or daily reports for submittal.
• Prepare routine and technical reports, logs, and documentation. Instruct and train staff on the proper use and operation of technical equipment and safety.

Minimum Qualifications • Valid driver's license.
• Experience applying federal and state regulations and standards related to traffic control devices.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools and test equipment to perform maintenance on traffic signals.
• Ability to oversee the work of others, as well as plan, coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments and competing priorities.
• Thorough knowledge of traffic management systems, including timing plans, graphic design and computer use.
• Ability to keep detailed and accurate records.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information orally and in writing.
• Experience in traffic signal maintenance and operations to include working with a variety of traffic control devices.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Additional Considerations • A combination of training, experience or education in Electronics Technology, or related field desired.
• Experience entering data into HMMS.
• IMSA Traffic Signal Level I and II certifications.
• Journeyman license preferred
