Summary This role will identify opportunities and potential in the crop production marketplace for technology related products and services that will improve the overall profitability and competitiveness of the company. Provide leadership and organization for the adoption and integration of existing and new technologies into the core businesses of the company. Planning and conducting an agronomy program that is supportive of area marketing strategies and product / service sales goals. Provide technical leadership to the sales force. Assess the need for continued education and training in the Ag Technology area. Integrate advances in technology into the retail business infrastructure in order to provide solutions to identifiable customer needs for products and services.
This position requires the incumbent to reside in California. Preference to the Central Valley (Stockton - Bakersfield).
Key Responsibilities Manage inventories and maintain contact with equipment manufacturers. Determines market potential and assists units in developing and communicating marketing strategies. Communicates the product/service adaptation and market positioning through training sessions, field tours, bulletins, participation in sales calls, and employee and grower meetings and workshops. Coordinate and conduct agronomy and product training for unit managers, crop advisors, other unit and company personnel, and customers.  Provide technical help and troubleshooting; provide solutions. Assist in installation and ongoing monitoring/maintenance of equipment and upgrades in the field. Provide administrative support where possible. Builds an effective team through recruitment, selection, coaching, development, and modeling effective management techniques. Establish accountability with and monitor progress of direct reports. Typical Education Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university is preferred (Equivalent experience of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements of the role).
Relevant Experience 3-5+ years related experience and/or training
Required Certifications CCA preferred.
Other Information Windows Operating Systems and compatible programs. Understanding of field technologies.
Skills: Ability to organize and schedule logistics, facilities, and people. Able to communicate ideas, concepts to individuals or groups of people in a clear, concise manner. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems both of technical and conceptual nature. Ability to plan in a proactive manner.
Ability to make site-specific input recommendations and conduct formal presentations, ability to display work in writing and statistics, ability to interpret research data and to make reasonable recommendations.
Distinguishing Features: Must have a high level of organization, ability to relate to and communicate with people, and an understanding of abstract and technical concepts.
Position will require traveling up to 50% of the time.
