Senior Database Administrator

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our esteemed Fortune 70 telecommunications client located in the St. Louis, MO area. As a valued member of the Data Management team within our IT Department, you will play a pivotal role in the installation and support of database management systems while upholding best practices. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Support the full lifecycle of NoSQL databases, from development to mission-critical production systems.
Assist in establishing, enforcing, and documenting database policies, procedures, and standards.
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies for Database Management Systems.
Monitor backups and maintenance jobs to ensure smooth operation.
Identify and optimize poorly performing queries.
Assist in ad-hoc query development and data analysis.
Implement high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup procedures.
Minimize database downtime and optimize parameters to ensure quick query responses.
Offer proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
Conduct regular tests and evaluations to uphold data security, privacy, and integrity.
Monitor database performance, implement necessary changes, and apply updates when required.
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role supporting NoSQL databases (MongoDB & REDIS).
Proficiency in instance, database, and query tuning to enhance database/application performance.
Experience with query/programming languages such as PL/SQL, Access SQL, Python.
Preferred experience with Oracle databases.
Solid foundational knowledge of Infrastructure/Networking, particularly in understanding protocols connecting networks to databases.
Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills for effective collaboration with business partners, peer IT resources, and management at all levels.
Ability to think logically, analyze performance data, and draw appropriate conclusions.
Eagerness and enthusiasm to learn niche database administration skills.
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree preferably in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
