A to Z currently has an excellent opportunity in our Sales department for a Senior Customer Manager working with our innovative CNC Machine Shop!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Sales and Customer Management Acquires a thorough understanding of customers' needs and requirements. Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis. Expands the relationship with existing customers by continuously looking for opportunities for A to Z to meet their additional needs, beyond what we are already fulfilling. Establishes strong professional relationships with key contacts within customer organization, developing a trusted advisor relationship. Plays an integral part in generating new sales that will turn in to long-lasting relationships or that will strengthen existing relationships. Ensures A to Z provides the highest quality machined parts and assemblies to our customers meeting or exceeding expectations, including timely delivery. Enhances A to Z's reputation by taking ownership of customer issues and following problems through to resolution. Resolves any issues and problems faced by customers and deals with complaints in a manner that builds trust both internally and externally. Communicates proactively with customers regarding any necessary updates to quotes, lead times, etc. Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings that meet A to Z standards. Maintains strong and up to date knowledge of the value proposition that A to Z offers to its customers. Keeps accurate records and documents customer service actions and discussions. Forecasts and tracks key customer metrics, e.g. sales results, forecasts, etc. Manages pipeline and open opportunities in manufacturing ERP (enterprise resource planning) tool. Maintains the integrity of the data in the ERP. Works cooperatively with other teams to standardize and clean up ERP data and processes so it is effective and accurate for all teams within A to Z. Quoting and Estimating Accurately reads blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates. Collaborates with shop floor leads, team members and other customer managers as needed to accurately identify and quantify cost of key variables such as necessary lead times, probability of fitting it in to A to Z's shop floor schedule, required production time, tooling needed, raw materials, equipment, allowances for waste, labor expenses and any other factors that can increase costs and lower productivity. Determines if subcontracting will be needed. Identifies source and obtains quotes. Obtains material quotes and/or successfully trains and mentors support members of the team to accurately obtain material quotes. Ensures timely completion of estimates including asking for assistance and planning for back up coverage for vacation days so the process keeps moving in his/her absence. Assists less tenured team members on proper quoting/estimating. Provides feedback from own personal experience and/or from customers if quotes are coming in too high or too low so all team members can learn and grow. On an ongoing basis, evaluates cost effectiveness and/or profitability to adjust future quotes and/or attain future similar business from customer. Effectively uses ERP system to calculate quotes and prepares job to flow through system in a standardized process that minimizes the chance of errors. Internal Communications and Other Leadership Responsibilities Responsible for positive problem solving. Helps train, coach and mentor less experienced Customer Managers and Quoters/Estimators within the team. May lead internal teams and provide direction on the best approach to complete a project in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Able to work independently with a wide degree of autonomy. High level of decision-making authority within the expectations of the role. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and helps the Customer Manager Lead identify potential new goals or team initiatives. Works closely and supportively with the shop floor to build confidence and empower increased decision making on the shop floor. Acts as a strong link of communication between customers and internal teams. Leads and promotes safety, attends safety training, and strictly observes safety rules including utilizing proper PPE on the shop floor. Follows all 6S procedures, ISO/quality procedures, and all safety procedures and protocols. Additional duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent Associates Degree in Manufacturing &/or 7+ years of job shop field experience Technical training beyond high school is preferred (Excel, accounting concepts, ERP, etc.). Solidworks or 3D Modeling training or experience is preferred, but not required. Experience: 7+ years of quoting & estimating experience and 3+ years of experience in customer management, project management, or manufacturing engineering, in a job shop machining environment. Previous experience working within an ERP or Operating Manufacturing System. Previous experience in an ISO certified manufacturing environment is preferred. Previous experience leading others in the sales environment strongly preferred. Skills & Other Qualifications: Strong Communication Skills - Both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a positive manner at all levels of the organization. Basic knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; and the willingness to increase proficiency. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize, with close attention to detail and deadlines. Developed understanding of welding requirements through previous experience. Demonstrated knowledge of reading and deciphering complex blueprints to accurately identify and quantify key variables (i.e. materials, labor, etc.) for quoting customer projects. Proven Interpersonal Skills - Works effectively and relates well with others, both internally and externally. Deals with coworkers in a professional manner and works to maintain constructive working relationships with all departments. Excellent listening, negotiating, and presentation skills. Strong problem-solving skills including using support, collaboration, and inspirational skills to empower and build confidence in decision-makers on the shop floor. Self-starter, self-sufficient, and self-motivated. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and adjust approach based on changing priorities and customer/coworker needs.
