Summary We are actively recruiting an experienced accounting professional to join our team at Corporate Headquarters in Salisbury, MD. The Senior Cost Accountant provides accounting support to our Pet Foods Business in addition to accounting for our Perdue Foods Co-Packing expenses. This position will be responsible for monthly closing activities and weekly and monthly reconciliations related to Pet Food accounting transactional activity. Also, this position will track and reconcile our Co-packer expenses for all Perdue Foods Products. There will also be time spent reconciling our Pet Food activity transacted on our Direct to Consumer sales platforms.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Perform assigned normal routine daily, weekly, or monthly reporting and reconciliations.
2. Perform monthly financial closing functions in accordance with company accounting calendar.
3. Identify areas where there are opportunities to improve Accounting controls and procedures.
4. Participate in the preparation of annual Op-plan and Quarterly Operating Forecasts for assigned areas of responsibility.
5. Maintain an effective structure of reporting, ensuring the integrity of the financial results. Identify, provide timely communication, and correct weaknesses.
6. Ad Hoc reporting and analysis as requested.
Minimum Education and Experience REQUIRED: Bachelors in Finance or Accounting plus 5 – 6 years related work experience. Must have significant proficiency in Excel. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED: CPA or CMA or MBA, Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods or Foods Products Industry
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
