Job Description Overview GE Consulting Services, part of GE Vernova's Strategy Organization, offers global clients, both internal and external to GE, a wide range of solutions across the spectrum of power generation, delivery and utilization. Our Power Systems Strategy team offers detailed engineering and economic analyses focused on the financial and physical operation of electric power systems. This includes generation and grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation, competitive power markets and energy policy implications, amongst others. The team specializes in transmission and distribution system modeling and planning; power system reliability and resource adequacy; microgrid and DER modeling, development and application; strategic guidance around power system modeling and operation; and more.
NOTE: This job can be either REMOTE or located at GE Consulting Services' main office located in Schenectady, NY.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities): The ideal candidate for this Senior Consultant, Transmission Planning role is someone who is well-versed in the intricacies of transmission system planning and development. Someone who can be an authority regarding: the effects that various transmission projects will have on the larger transmission system; the effects that the push towards decarbonization, notably regional renewable penetration goals, will have on the larger transmission system and power markets; and ongoing developments between transmission and distribution system interactions, to name a few.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Supporting and/or leading consulting and advisory services across the electric power industry and supporting other GE business initiatives related to power systems equipment and services. Candidates should be experienced users of GE PSLF, Siemen PSSE, Powergem TARA, or another comparable powerflow modeling software. Candidates should additionally be familiar with regional regulations surrounding generator integration processes, including renewable integration Familiarity with capacity and energy market structure, Knowledge related to applicable transmission planning criteria in at least one of the following regions/ISOs: MISO, PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, CAISO, ERCOT.  In particular a successful candidate will be required to:
Support economic and/or engineering system studies related to production cost modeling, reliability analysis, stability analysis, power market forecasting, and integrated resource planning. Work alongside project teams consisting of 2-10 consultants/engineers by providing power system analysis including: quantitative and analytical modeling, simulation, and evaluation of power systems and markets. Leverage existing databases and modeling tools to perform power system simulations. Support and mentor team members to increase fidelity and accuracy of existing models on an as-needed basis. Proactively seek out new opportunities and study work by working with Consulting Services' Commercial Team and support in responding to Requests for Proposals from grid operators, utilities, developers, and other industry organizations on an as-needed basis. Support GE businesses and customers in the areas of wind and solar integration, smart grid optimization, distributed energy resources, energy storage, asset utilization, new product initiatives, and challenges related to power system and/or portfolio decarbonization. Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are essential. Qualifications/Requirements: BS Degree in Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in transmission system planning and modeling, integrated resource planning, power market analysis, and/or similar tasks. Experience in planning and execution of complex analyses relevant to electric power systems and generating facilities. Experience with power system simulation tools (GE PSLF, Siemens PSSE, Powergem TARA, or similar) Proficient with Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. Strong interpersonal communication skills to present findings of analytical studies to a wide range of internal and external industry stakeholders. Strong technical writing skills for proposals and study reports. Strong project management skills and the ability to lead small project teams. Desired: Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States MBA or Master's/PhD degree in engineering, economics, computer science or related field Experience with production cost modeling software (GE MAPS, PLEXOS, GridView, ProMod, other) and/or reliability/resource adequacy modeling software (GE MARS, SERVM, other) Industry participation and/or reputation, with published articles related to practical power generation-related topics, participation in industry standards working groups, or other. For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $78,700 - 131,100 USD Annual
The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This Lead Professional Band position is also eligible for A Variable Incentive bonus of 10%.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
