I. Purpose of Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Indirect Material Buyer to join our procurement team. The Indirect Material Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing indirect materials necessary for the operation of our organization. These materials may include office supplies, maintenance and repair items, IT equipment, and other indirect goods and services. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and vendor management experience to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards.
. II. Key Responsibilities Source and procure indirect materials required for various departments within the organization, ensuring timely availability and adequate inventory levels. Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize costs, quality, and delivery of indirect materials. Identify potential suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations, and negotiate contracts and pricing terms to achieve cost savings and favorable terms. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide procurement support and guidance. Maintain relationships with existing suppliers, monitor vendor performance, and address any issues or concerns promptly. Evaluate market trends, industry developments, and supplier capabilities to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout the procurement process. Utilize procurement tools and systems to track purchases, manage budgets, and generate reports on procurement activities and performance. Participate in cross-functional teams and initiatives to support organizational goals and objectives. Stay abreast of best practices in procurement, supply chain management, and industry trends to continuously improve procurement processes and practices. IV. Background and Skill Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. (Preferred but not required) Proven experience (minimum 7 years) in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, with a focus on indirect materials procurement. Strong negotiation skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and procurement regulations. Strong business acumen and understanding of market dynamics and supplier landscapes. Certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are a plus.
