We are seeking a talented Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team and provide dedicated support to a specific business unit within the organization. The Senior Financial Analyst will play a critical role in driving financial planning, analysis, and decision-making processes to optimize the performance and profitability of the business unit. This position reports directly to the Divisional Finance Director. This is a hybrid (1-2 days in office/week) position based in Washington, DC.
Financial Analysis & Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the business unit's performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods. Analyze product, customer, and market segment profitability to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and margin improvement. Provide ad-hoc financial analyses and decision support to business unit leaders to evaluate strategic initiatives, investment opportunities, and operational improvements. Budget Management & Cost Control: Monitor and track actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and working with business partners to understand root causes and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost control initiatives, efficiency improvements, and process enhancements to drive profitability and operational excellence. Support the development of business cases and ROI analysis for capital expenditures, new product launches, and other strategic investments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, and reporting, preferably in a business unit support or FP&A role. Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Netsuite, Microsoft BI). Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial metrics, and performance measurement concepts. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and recommendations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
