Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Louisville team! The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller and contributing to the overall success of the organization by providing financial, administrative, and clerical services and support to the Finance Department to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative functions.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Position may involve performing other duties as required, which may not be mentioned below. Specific functions may change from time to time. Partnering with the Finance team (and KODA family) to honor the gift of donation, and exemplify our core values of being compassionate, dedicated, and accountable. Assists in processing general accounting transactions, functions, and programs. Assists in maintaining computerized accounting system, including general ledger, balance sheet accounts and income and expense accounts. Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets. Performs balance sheet reconciliations and monthly recurring journal entries. Support month-end and year-end close process. Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance. Reviews general ledger accounts for accuracy including renaming and reclassifying items. Plan, assign and review staffs' work and support staff accountants as required. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems, processes, and procedures. Assists in the collection, duplication, and safe storage of critical business documents. Handles confidential information in accordance with standard operating procedures. Assists in the coordination of and participation in the annual audit. Ensures accounting policies and procedures meet accepted standards. Assists in the development of working instructions specific to this role. Performs other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time, often on short notice, by the Controller. Mental and physical requirements Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, occasional lifting (up to twenty pounds), finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual acuity. This position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, and related office equipment. Ability to speak clearly to convey information and data over the phone and in person. Ability to hear at normal speaking levels and over the phone. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 in order to read and prepare various reports. Skills and Qualifications: Ability to manage multiple, concurrent priorities; ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities keeping workflow constant; ability to meet deadlines; ability to maintain effective working relationships and to establish the highest integrity with others to coordinate work in order to meet objectives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to complete detailed accounting tasks accurately. Ability to work with others. Ability to organize and complete complex administrative tasks. Ability to meet project deadlines. Ability to work effectively and promote teamwork among the staff. Working environment and conditions This position requires working within an indoor, normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is typically low. Education, experience and training Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting required. Experience: 3-5 years of accounting or related experience required. Experience with computerized accounting and data systems preferred. Strong financial analysis skills. Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Knowledge of accounting software and MS Office. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: CPA license is required.
