TalentFirst is thrilled to present a new opportunity for a seasoned Senior Accountant to join our growing team in a part-time/hybrid capacity. This role will consist of 24 – 26 hours per week with a mutually agreed upon schedule and report directly to the President. As a key member of our team, you will oversee all organizational financial affairs and play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our financial operations, provide strategic insights, and drive impactful decision-making processes. Working with educators, workforce leaders, policymakers, and other key stakeholders, TalentFirst is committed to positioning West Michigan as a leader in world-class talent and elevating our region's reputation as a premier destination for businesses to thrive and for individuals to flourish.While managing the financial affairs of the organization, our Senior Accountant will work closely with our strategic leadership team, partner with key stakeholders, and perform a diverse set of responsibilities as outlined below:Establish and maintain proper financial policies, procedures, and internal controlsMaintain proper documentation of all accounting transactions and journal entriesPrepare monthly financial statements and provide regular reporting with forecast analysisDevelop the annual budget, monitor variances, and provide regular reportingProvide budget or cost analysis as needed for the Leadership teamAssist with government funding/grant requests and grant reportsMaintain banking relationships and reconcile accountsManage payroll and tax filings with payroll vendorOversight of employee benefits, coverage, claims, renewal, workers compensation, and other human resource financial functions as neededAssist with fundraising membership and donation records; provide reporting and analysis as neededOversee management of facilities and purchases, manage leases and service agreementsCooperate with the auditing firm in the preparation of annual auditsParticipate in quarterly Finance Subcommittee meetingsOur ideal candidate will have:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredMinimum of 7 years diverse accounting experience ideally in non-profit or public administration requiredPrevious experience setting up cost accounting/general ledger accounts requiredDeep understanding of accounting/finance/inventory concepts, practices, procedures, and principalsExperience with tracking grant funds and reporting preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to link operational metrics to financial performanceExpertise in Excel with knowledge of advanced features; working knowledge of Word and QuickBooksAbility to deliver accurate and thorough results in a timely, consistent, and professional mannerCapable of working independently and managing multiple prioritiesAble to develop successful working relationships within all functions and all levelsIf you're passionate about driving impactful change, shaping the future of talent development, and contributing to the prosperity of West Michigan, apply today to join our team.
