Senior Accountant Section I. General Overview & Reporting: The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting in the routine of the company's accounting functions, with adherence to standard accounting principles (GAAP), in the preparation of financial reports, compilation of financial statements, analysis of financial data, and ensuring financial compliance. The Senior Accountant will maintain and oversee a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, expense reporting compliance and bank reconciliations. This exempt position is involved with maintaining controls and records of financial transactions. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller and will be responsible for supporting the accounting and finance team in carrying out all other responsibilities of the department .
Section II. Duties & Areas of Responsibility: The primary duties of the Senior Accountant consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Procedural responsibilities: Prepare monthly reconciliations & manual journal entries Oversee and assist with the timely and accurate completion of the monthly financial close Coordinate monthly sales tax filings Assist with AP and AR process guidance and backfill if items are missed or behind Assist the annual budget process and subsequent preparation of financial reports and statements Assist with the annual audit, quarterly reviews and 401(k) audit to ensure they are completed timely, with minimal issues Provide schedules and information to external auditors to assist in the quarterly reviews and yearly audits Assist with inventory control and cost analysis policies and procedures Analyze, improve, and implement new policies and procedures to keep up with technology enhancements, and create more efficient operations in cooperation with the Controller. Assist with operating cash flow and funding requirements. Participate in special projects and analysis as needed and directed by management/supervisors Other duties, as assigned Section III: Necessary Skills and Attributes: 3-5 years' experience in finance or accounting role (manufacturing background preferred) Bachelor's degree (accounting, finance, or management) required Excellent leadership skills, and ability to diagnose complex problems, and work towards concrete resolutions Strong attention to detail Proven root cause analytical skills (financial and general) Excellent problem resolution abilities Solid written and verbal communication abilities Excellent interpersonal, and collaborative skills Professional demeanor Strong ERP experience (Epicor/P21 preferred) Comprehensive Microsoft Office skills (Excel heavy, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) Competent presentation skills Strong time management, planning and organizational skills Ability to work well both independently, and in team settings Section IV: Physical Requirements: Visual acuity required to read computer screens, written documents, invoices, checks, etc. Must be able to work sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and in squatting position Ability to speak and talk on the phone Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds Manual dexterity required for computer work, to handle materials, supplies, etc. Note: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature & levels of the work performed by employees, but are not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, & skills required of personnel so classified.
