Position Summary:

From guiding fifth graders through our renowned Mountain School to leading engaging summer activities for families and adults, this role offers a unique opportunity to blend teaching, adventure, and environmental stewardship. Multiple positions are available for enthusiastic individuals from diverse professional backgrounds who share a love for teaching, outdoor exploration, and working with children.
Responsibilities:
Lead educational sessions on natural and cultural history, guiding participants on hikes through the National Park trails.
Provide logistical support, including mealtime supervision and inventory management, to ensure seamless program operations.
Serve as an ELC Incident Commander, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants and staff during evening shifts and emergency situations.
Lead and instruct canoe programs, fostering outdoor skills and environmental awareness among participants.
Collaborate with marketing and development efforts through activities like photography and blog posts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Environment:
You'll encounter diverse wildlife and varying weather conditions, from hot summers to snowy winters. Your commitment to safety and adaptability will be essential in this environment.
Physical Demands:
From leading hikes to paddling canoes, this role requires physical agility and the ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. You'll be trained to lead canoe programs and engage in outdoor activities in all weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:
Experience teaching or leading elementary and/or middle school youth.
Demonstrated good judgment, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Willingness to live and work in a small, rural community.
Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of scientific principles and ability to effectively teach them.
Experience working with underserved populations and employing diverse teaching methods.
Familiarity with the natural and cultural history of the.
Proficiency in Spanish language is a plus.
