Job summary
Works under the direct supervision of the Parks Foreman, Parks Worker II, and Parks Worker IPerforms a variety of semi-skilled duties related to the everyday maintenance of parks, city buildings, and programs
Responsibilities
• Performs turf maintenance functions; operates riding and push mowers, weed eaters, edgers, and blowers; trims bushes, trees, and shrubs; fertilizes under the supervision of Parks Worker I or II• Cleans restrooms, empties trash cans, picks up litter, and cleans picnic shelters and BBQ grills• Assists with the installation of sprinkler systems, constructions projects, building maintenance, landscaping, planting, painting, and general carpentry• Performs duties at sports fields, trash clean up, drag and chalk fields, clean restrooms, dug outs, spectator areas, picks up litter, mows, trims and completes minor repairs• Performs weed control by mechanical methods under the supervision of Parks Worker I or II• Attends monthly safety meetings, department trainings and other training provided by the Parks and Recreation Director• Ability to maintain good working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, city officials, and the public• • •
Requirements
• Education and Experience: A. Graduation from high school or GED; B. Valid New Mexico Driver's License; Ability to use tools properly and safely• Work Environment: Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc• Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential to the performance of the position• Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions is normal• Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity exists• Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and discriminating thinking• Frequent local travel is in the normal course of job performance• • •
