Our East Meadow Store is actively seeking a PTSeafood Clerk to join its seafood team! This position requires some experience working with seafood in a retail seafood store.Our Seafood clerks display seafood products and related items in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner while ensuring that all product is fresh, rotated and well stocked for our customers. Seafood clerks make recommendations for which fish or seafood products to purchase at the counter. Individual will address all customer service questions and concerns.ResponsibilitiesThe Seafood Clerk will display counters and cases are arranged, stocked, and replenished with ice and seafood product.Check and verify freshness of seafood items in live tanks. Verify and remove foul or spoiled product and rotate merchandiseThe Seafood Clerk will assist customers on seafood products, prices and service.Offer assistance in finding or suggesting the selection of seafood product. Prepare special seafood fillets and cuts as requested by customers.The Seafood Clerk will weigh, price, and package customer selections using weigh scales, label machine and wrapping machine.Process merchandise according to production guidelines and follow established sanitation standards.The Seafood Clerk will keep displays iced according to company policy and change ice as scheduledReceive and unload seafood delivery truck and store product in designated area.Receive supplies, organize and maintain inventory of newly received merchandise.Monitor cooler, display cases, and tanks for correct temperature to assure product quality.The Seafood Clerk will maintain a clean and neat department, free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.Work in a safe and proper manner, exercising safe food handling practices.Exercise proper safety practices on use of all equipment.Operate and clean seafood equipment and tools.Requirements18 years of age or olderHS Diploma or equivalentMust have at least 1 year of experience working in a seafood department of a grocery store or seafood storeWorking knowledge of seafood preparations and displays within a seafood departmentAbility to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer serviceAbility to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problemsWe offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO time, 50% discount on lunch, 25% store discount and more!
