Job Title : School Support Para Educator FLSA Exemption Status : Non-Exempt Classification Group : Paraeducators Supervising Position : School Principal or designee Pay Plan : Educational Support Personnel Pay Range : Range 04 Last Updated : 03/04/2024 Pay Information Benefits Information JOB SUMMARY : Under the direction of a licensed staff member, perform clerical support such as typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, faxing, laminating, collating, counting, inventorying and ordering of supplies, answering telephones, greeting visitors, entering data into computers, and simple bookkeeping. Assist with preparation of student learning materials and support coordinators in the assigned program. May monitor, manage, and assist students during classroom activities and student testing, recess, lunch, detention, in-house suspension, and before or after school. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. Perform basic clerical work such as data entry/typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, laminating, mail distribution, taking inventory, ordering office supplies, answering phones, taking messages, office reception, and light bookkeeping. Schedule meetings as requested.

Support teachers and instructional para-educators with student testing and preparation of learning materials.

May monitor, manage, and assist students during classroom activities and student testing, recess, lunch, detention, in-house suspension, and before or after school.

Provide support to teachers and resource center technicians as needed.

Draft and distribute reports and/or formal communication to staff and/or parents.

Help maintain program files, inventory, calendars, equipment maintenance, and repair schedules. May include budget tracking. [Weekly, 5%]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.
Criminal background check and fingerprinting required High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma No professional work experience required Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills. Intermediate verbal and written communication skills. Advanced interpersonal relations skills. Advanced organizational skills. Ability to work alone and with others. Ability to perform data entry on a daily basis. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS : The physical demands, mental functions, cognitive capacities, and work environment factors required to perform a position's essential functions. May be required to travel between District sites (reimbursed at the federal rate). DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other qualifications relevant to the position that are strongly preferred but not mandatory for a candidate to be considered.
Experience working in the public sector Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement Associate's degree. Administrative assistant/clerical, student supervision in an educational setting, or licensed teaching experience. Experience working in a school district or educational setting. Experience working with school age children. CPR and First Aid certifications.
