Role: School Pyschologist Reports to: SPED Director FLSA Status: Exempt Contract Days: 190 days Retirement: TRS Key Duties and Responsibilities Respond appropriately and within federal and state guidelines to referrals for initial psychological assessment and for reevaluation of children in special education programs. Demonstrate a competent understanding of the psychometric characteristics of a variety of assessment instruments. Demonstrate appropriate consultative skills in parent, teacher and student conferences. Communicate psychological assessment results and recommendations both verbally and through written reports. Participate in eligibility and program decisions in meeting the needs of students with disabilities. Participate in and contribute to professional development activities. Recommend appropriate remedial and intervention procedures for students. Manage time and resources effectively. Provide differential diagnosis in areas of intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities and emotional/behavioral disorders. Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position. Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner. Review current development, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility. Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and administrative directives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible for required certification. Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community. High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation. Abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators. Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work. Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
