The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.Morenci is a unique company town where our employees and their families can reconnect with nature through hiking, fishing, camping, hunting and numerous parks. Visit the Morenci town website to learn more.DescriptionUnder general supervision, works with other Sampler Technicians at mine site to obtain and deliver consistent and accurate samples to the assay laboratory in a timely manner.Identify which drill holes require sampling from the Drill PatternMust work closely and coordinate work schedule with dispatch and/or drilling and blastingObtain representative samples following the appropriate SOP'sEnsure that samples are obtained from equally spaced locations within the drill hole, that the minimum sample weight is obtained, that samples are correctly labeled, etc.Assist with quality control; for those sample locations that are identified as locations for duplicate samples; repeat the sampling process on the same blast holeEnsure that the duplicate samples are correctly labeled and that both the original and the duplicate are identified accordingly for laboratory staffTransport and deliver all samples to the assay laboratory, in a timely mannerMay perform entry level analytical laboratory tasks to prepare samples for analysis, or assist with routine chemical analysis and reporting tasksMay provide technical support to ore control and surveying staff, as requiredResponsible for verifying that equipment is functional and operating properlyEnsure that all sampling equipment is cleaned after each sample has been takenPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum QualificationsOne (1) year of experience in an area or areas relevant to the assignmentKnowledge of sampling equipment, processes, methods and techniquesAble to conduct preventive maintenance on assigned equipmentSkilled in planning, prioritizing and scheduling daily work assignmentsSkill in safely using, maintaining and repairing specialized equipment to complete assigned duties, including GIS/GPS mapping techniquesKnowledge of site processes, equipment and infrastructureAble to use a variety of computer software applications, especially Microsoft OfficeAble to communicate effectively both orally and in writingAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsSkilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsPreferredHigh School diploma or GEDCriteria/ConditionsAbility to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentWork is in an outdoor, mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, talk, hear and seeThe work requires the ability to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds and perform other similar actions frequently during the course of the workdayA valid driver's license is required for this jobPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State LawsWhat We Offer YouThe estimated pay range for this role is currently$19.00 - $26.00/hour.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
