Job Description
The Yoh candidate will be expected to apply expertise across several practical skills, including immuno-serology, cell-based assays, molecular biology, and primary cell culture. Knowledge of immunoassay-based instruments, including multi-mode plate readers and plate washers will be required. The role is a lab-based research scientist who will also be responsible for participating on various teams to design and optimize relevant in vitro assays to support preclinical evaluation of vaccine candidates, targeting several viruses, e.g. influenza, RSV, etc. Key Accountability Participate in design, planning, and execution of studies to test immunogenicity, efficacy, and safety of various vaccine candidates Develop and implement novel methods for detailed analysis of immune responses to vaccine candidates Perform a wide variety of technical procedures and operate a wide variety of lab instrumentation/computer platforms related to Immunology. Support the automation of protocols for immune assays. Molecular biology support as needed for virus generation or recombinant proteins. Effectively analyze and summarize experimental outcomes, record experimental procedures and raw and analyzed data. Perform statistical analyses on compiled data as needed and present to project teams. Conduct experiments and prepare written reports conforming to defined documentation practices in support of regulatory filings, internal company documents, and external company presentations Prepare and write support manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and documents for methods, instruments, or work processes. Collaborate with internal partners in other functional areas, external vendors, and external scientific partners. Contribute to implementation of lean and agile principles in the context of Scrum framework. Participate in monitoring and maintaining facility related aspects of the lab and lab equipment calibration as needed. Comply with the company safety policies and minimize risk to self, others, and the environment, consistent with the community and industry standards Required Education/Experience: BS with 2+ years of relevant experience in industry o Degree should be in Immunology, Virology, Biochemistry or Physical Science or applied science field. Required Skills: Technical proficiency with 2 or more immunological assays: HAI, NT, ELISA, ELLA, MSD, Luminex/BioRad platforms, InDevR (VaxArray) Experience with mammalian cell culture and best practices in tissue culture Knowledge and experience with Good Research Practice (GRP) Communication skills -Able to expresses one's self clearly and concisely within team; documents issues and/or concerns concisely with colleagues Organization – Exercises good time management and prioritization skills Able to work in agile environment Desirable Experience: Experience with viruses in a BSL II environment is desirable Experience with molecular biology including but not limited to molecular cloning, protein characterization, etc Experience with data analysis and visualization software (e.g. SoftMax, GraphPad Prism, Tableau, etc) Experience with programing and coding Experience in automation-based techniques and automated pipette systems for laboratory experiments Familiarity with Scrum methodology Potential to think independently, contribute and collaborate with cross functional project teams, and troubleshoot effectively Conversant with electronic notebook for record keeping
