Job DescriptionA full-time research technician position is available in the Jarome lab investigating sex-specific molecular mechanisms of fear memory formation in the brain. The lab uses a combination of common rodent behavioral paradigms with a variety of biochemical assay and molecular-genetic approaches to study the neurobiology of learning and memory, including CRISPR-dCas9, transcriptomics and proteomics. For this position, the research technician will be responsible for conducting experiments and analyzing data for a funded project on the sex-specific role of ubiquitin-proteasome signaling in fear memory formation across the lifespan. Specific responsibilities include animal (rat) handling, training and surgery (stereotaxic), brain tissue collection and dissection, and performing a variety of biochemical and molecular genetic assays as directed by the principal investigator. The successful applicant may be asked to train other lab personnel as needed by the principal investigator and can be involved in manuscript preparation if desired.Required QualificationsExperience working with rodents in a laboratory setting, including prior experience handling and performing behavioral training with rats; Experience with basic/common molecular biology techniques (i.e., pipetting, western blotting, etc.) in a research laboratory (not classroom) setting.
