The Aldinger Laboratory in the Center for Integrative Brain Research at Seattle Children's Research Institute has an immediate opening for a Research Scientist in the fields of neuroscience, genetics, and disease. We are broadly interested in the developmental mechanisms that cause neurodevelopmental disorders. Current projects include the impact of patient genetic variants on brain development and the interaction of vascular and neuro-development in the cerebellum. Common methods used in the lab include standard molecular biology and cutting-edge genomic tools. The Research Scientist will be responsible for conducting independent and creative research related to the overall mission of the laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain lab organization including supplies, equipment, and protocols.
- Basic scientific skills including the ability to keep detailed records of experimental design, execution, and analyses.
- Provide status reports to the PI on status of projects.
- Present analysis findings at group meetings and national conferences, as appropriate.
- Perform related duties as required.
The Research Scientist will spend the majority of their time making contributions to new and on-going laboratory projects, requiring the ability to use independent judgment to address tasks and projects, and will identify and refine existing procedures and practices. Techniques used in the lab include molecular biology (cloning, PCR, RT-PCR), histology (IHC, ISH), cell culture (cell lines, stem cells), biochemistry (WB), genomics (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, CUT&Tag, spatial transcriptomics, long-read sequencing). Direct experience with more than one of these techniques is preferred.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, or related field.
- Minimum to two (2) years' experience in a related area/laboratory setting.
Preferred:
- Research experience in molecular biology, histology, tissue culture, or biochemistry techniques is highly preferred.
- Experience working with command line-based software for genomics analysis.
- Ability to use computational tools in common scripting languages (e.g. using Python, R or equivalent).
- Ability to work, collaborate, and communicate well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative and work independently.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Min: USD $29.48/Hr. Max: USD $44.23/Hr.
Min Salary: USD $61,318.40/Yr. Max Salary: USD $91,998.40/Yr.
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Seattle Children's offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
