Physical Requirements: Requires handling of average weight objects up to 25 pounds from floor to above shoulder height, standing/walking for long periods of time.
Shift: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (40hr/week)
Job Summary: The Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center (SCoBIRC) is seeking support for in vitro and in vivo experiments for research inspinal cord injury and regenerative medicine. Working with animals will constitute a major responsibility of the position but will alsorequire detailed record keeping, maintaining laboratory inventories through ordering of tracking of supplies, assisting with the processingand analysis of animal samples for experimentation, and performing wet lab molecular biology. This position involves performingsurgeries for traumatic spinal cord injury research on live animals (mice and rats) followed by twice/daily animal care, behavioralassessments, euthanasia using IACUC and DLAR approved methods, as well as tissue processing. The successful applicant will beexpected to compile and analyze experimental data and to have strong English speaking and writing skills to record experimentalresults, as well as be expected to continually progress towards independence.
