Job Summary Serving as Research Faculty in the College of Computing, this position will provide specialized large proposal development, oversee and support the department on behalf of the College of Computing's Associate Dean for Research, serve as the primary resource for large proposal teams at all stages, and assist with identifying large research funding opportunities. This position will interact consistently with the Associate Dean for Research, academic faculty, research faculty, central and unit research administrators, finance staff, and a wide variety of faculty and staff in relevant campus units. Interactions will also include advising and counseling: academic faculty, research faculty, and unit research administrators.
Responsibilities Educate faculty on upcoming large proposal priorities/opportunities and connect them to relevant resources. Recommend best practices for Principal Investigators on proposal design and writing. Consuearly-stage stage proposal strategy, teaming, and development. Serve as project manager for select, advance-stage proposal teams by coordinating proposal content; verifying completeness and consistency; ensuring that campus entities outside of the team provide all required input/approvals. Provide professional technical writing review, edits, and/or draft and templates of core proposal documents (particularly management plans, broader impact statements, data management plans, etc.). Manage periodic critical reviews, both internal and external, of draft proposals. Analyze proposal reviews and provide feedback to investigators or other institutional officials. Track research performance of coordinated coordinating with the Associate Dean for Research to periodically inform faculty and staff of this performance. Work with Associate Dean for Research, College faculty, and staff to identify large funding opportunities. Coordinate funding agency site visits and review response reports. Partner with home unit to assist with editing of proposal documentation, budget development, submission of required documentation into campus/sponsor systems, and transition projects from development/pre-award to post-award; consult on early establishment and implementation of positions, processes, etc. Develop tools and resources for efficient administrative processes to support Principal Investigators' initiatives. Coordinating with people outside the college. Perform related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Final rank will be determined commensurate with education and experience Research Associate I Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related area. Research Associate II A Master's degree in Computer Science, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or A Master's degree in Computer Science, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or A Doctoral degree. Senior Research Associate A Master's degree in Computer Science, and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or A Master's degree in Computer Science, and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
