Research Associate I - Fisheries Location: Moscow Division/College: College of Natural Resources Employee Category: Exempt Pay Range: Commensurate with experience FTE: 1.0 Full/Part Time: Full Time Position Summary:
Performs research activities and analysis; implements and evaluates research procedures and data. Records observations and measurements then reports results. Responsible for analyzing and preparing results for publication. Works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude. May supervise junior research personnel.Duties may include:
Providing technical support in planning and/or designing of scientific projects, studies, or applicationsPlanning and conducting research and analysis of scientific dataInterpreting test results and comparing with determined standards and limitsIdentifying and evaluating scientific samples and determining need for further testingDeveloping recommendations and/or providing solutions, standards, and protocol to a wide range of difficult problemsPlanning, designing, developing, monitoring and/or evaluating portions of a scientific project, study, or applicationProviding scientific evaluations/assessmentsResearching, implementing, standardizing, and evaluating new proceduresMaintaining detailed records of results and prepares written reports acceptable to the Principal Investigator and funding agenciesOther duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in in biology, ecology, environmental science/management, or fisheriesTwo years of post-bachelor's research experience related to the domain of this position Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of steelhead ecology, as demonstrated though research experience with this species culminating in written research productsAbility to communicate across a wide range of technical competencies, as demonstrated with experience advising undergraduates and coordinating with professional researchers and managersMastery of R programming, as demonstrated with the production of large (>1000 lines) scripts written without assistanceMastery of Bayesian data analysis, as demonstrated through graduate-level education and application to novel research questionsFamiliarity with Cormack-Jolly-Seber models, as demonstrated through graduate-level education or application to novel research questionsMastery of hierarchical models and/or mixed effects models, as demonstrated through graduate-level education and application to novel research questions Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: None
