The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, is recruiting for a full-time, research assistant, in the laboratory of Leukemia and Drug Development Laboratory (LDDL), to help conduct research in the area of hematology. Encompasses individuals at all degrees and have a high level of competency in research but may not have an independent research program.
The LDDL is in the CARE/Crawley building on University of Cincinnati's East Campus. We are a diverse team focused on studying the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, and cure of hematological malignancies. Essential Functions Contribute to collective team effort. Document and organize research results and data according to NIH's preferred good laboratory management practices (LabArchives). Assist with the coordination of research studies in hematology. Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on evidence-based literature. Independently works on projects and troubleshoot problems. Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpretation of data, and validity of testing. Maintain timely project goals, deadlines, and studies for contributions to publications and grant funding applications. Apply scientific skills and knowledge to demonstrate technical capabilities of single cell platforms. Analyze and communicate results and data analysis from high throughput sequencing platforms. Share responsibility with other lab members for lab maintenance including possible ordering and stocking of laboratory supplies and maintenance of lab inventory. Molecular biology techniques desired: General cell culture techniques Tissue culture and related wet lab techniques (i.e. western blotting, functional assays). Flow cytometry Animal tissues handling Preparation of novel therapeutics for in vivo studies Optimize and perform in vitro immune assays Basic handling of DNA and RNA techniques including sample isolation, PCR, and preparation of samples for sequencing Gene editing of cell lines and primary cells with CRISPR-Cas9 or viral vectors Required Education Bachelor's Degree. Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Experience Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
Additional Qualifications Considered Master's degree in a clinical or scientific discipline is highly desirable. Prior research experience in a laboratory setting is highly recommended. Two years+ of in-depth knowledge of translational research laboratory practices. Experience with specialized software (i.e. Microsoft Suite, Labarchives, GraphPad Prism, Endnote).
