Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Assistant II position with the UAMS College of Medicine Department of Orthopedics provides support for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in a human motion testing laboratory at our Aldersgate Biomechanics Lab. Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design and testing, data analysis, and manuscript and grant preparation of biomechanical experiments for orthopedics-related projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in exercise science, biology, chemistry or related field plus four (4) years of research experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Skills to follow protocols and be able to anticipate and recognize potential problems.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to interact in a collegial manner with supervisors, peers, and investigators.

Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Discussing hypotheses and objectives with the supervisor, other laboratory personnel, and clinicians.
Determination of key variables, primary and alternative methodologies.
Ensuring the application of scientific rigor and reproducibility for interpretation, including proper statistical validation.
Serves to achieve broad research goals, including dissemination of findings.
Perform analysis of motion, force plate, and EMG data using Visual3D, Matlab, and Excel. Includes statistical analyses, data presentation, and interpretation.
Writing manuscripts, assembling data and other figures, and submitting for publication; preparing posters and slide presentations for scientific conferences and local seminars.
May perform other duties as assigned.
