3 Vacant Positions
The Student Assistant, under general supervision, will engage in a guided approach to grant activities related to either of the following areas of research: International Goat Research, Animal Sciences, Plants, Soil Sciences, Food Systems, and/or Social and Allied Science studies; willing to perform research focused on improvements in agricultural practices; Willingness to perform literature searches, work independently in a laboratory setting, collect data, contribute to dissemination of information at local, state and national conferences as well as for peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Responsibilities:
Perform fieldwork. Draft documents and preparation of reports. Assist with grant-related activities. Develop surveys for gathering research data. Assist with preparation for conferences. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience:
Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done. Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA No prior experience necessary For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term. Preferred Education and Experience:
Working towards a B.S. degree in agriculture, computer science, biology, business, engineering, or the sciences. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong willingness to work in field and office agriculturally related projects as indicated in their resume. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of agriculture. Essential problem-solving skills. Ability to follow instructions. Other Requirements:
