The Research Administrator III/IV (RA) is a high-level career position which supports the faculty and research personnel in the new Translational Sciences Division by providing support in grants and contract management (Pre- and Post- Award), budget development and monitoring, regulatory administration, and general day-to-day operations of the program faculty. The financial portfolio is comprised of various sources of NIH, foundation, industry, professional society, internal pilot, subawards, and institutional support and includes regulated activities. This role is part of a team of Research Administrators and Administrative Coordinators which provides a network of peer resources and team environment supporting the program faculty.
This role can be hybrid remote or on-campus. Applicant must specify preference during the application process.
The Research Administrator III/IV (RA) is responsible for all pre-award and post- award operations for each faculty in their assigned portfolio. This includes completing nonscientific grant content and tasks, adherence to internal and external deadlines for grant/contract/IRB/HR submissions, negotiation with industry partners, maintain and advise the PIs on management of the portfolio, and develop effective solutions to any issues that may arise. Management of portfolios to ensure for each project awarded that all policies and procedures are followed per the terms and conditions of the award and per institutional policy.
The RA is responsible for providing operational oversight of the administrative implementation and financial management of research studies and associated agreements within the Program. Assures accuracy of project budgets and contracts and reconciles expenditures through the project lifecycle. The RA will partner with PIs and Central Offices to develop a collaborative work environment with research staff. This includes understanding the details related to preparing sponsored funding applications, managing sponsored awards, budgeting, essential documents, fiscal management, and project close-out. Special skills and knowledge are applied in budgeting and managing complex research projects.
Regulatory support for human subjects research is a required component of this role. Prepare/Consult/Advise faculty on non-scientific portions of regulatory applications/submissions. Assist with submission of renewals of regulatory files, adhering to deadlines. Prepare/Consult/Advise faculty and maintain data, material use, and collaboration agreements and compliance documentation.
The RA assists each of the faculty in their assigned portfolio to plan and ensure compliant and effective funding for longevity by maintaining and reporting budget status for entire portfolio. The RA provides guidance in relation to budget adherence, regulatory administration, and general administrative support for the departments that are part of their portfolio. The RA collaborates with faculty and interfaces with program employees and other divisions, departments, and institutions as needed on administrative and strategic planning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
HS diploma or equivalent Research Administrator III minimum requirements: Three years in pre-award and post-award grants and contract management Research Administrator IV minimum requirements: Five years in pre-award and post-award grants and contract management Able to understand, interpret and provide guidance relating to notices of award and terms/conditions for sponsored research Budget development and management for multiple types of funding mechanisms (NIH, Foundation, Industry, and pilot funding) Technical experience sufficient to allow proficiency doing remote work (daily use of MS Outlook, MS Teams, and Zoom) Able to work independently and prioritize competing priorities but also the ability to work as part of team, seeking/providing guidance from/to team members and peers. Able to multi-task and work effectively in stressful circumstances, such as tight deadlines PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior grants and contract management experience of more than 4 years Multi-project grants management experience with a wide variety of funding sources Working knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with Human Subjects Protection. This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. If declining a booster, completion of the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Form Questionnaire and COVID-19 Booster Declination Training is required. The annual base salary range for the III level position is from $74,358 to $111,536 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.??
The annual base salary range for the IV level position is from $86,078 to $129,118 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.??
