Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing, promoting and restoring patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assigned team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts an individualized patient assessment Develops plan of care that is individualized for the patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner Delivers care with appropriate age and cultural competence to specific patient populations Provides individualized patient/family education customized to the patient and his/her family Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and facility staff Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift Maintains current competency in nursing specialty by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Administer and document treatments Dispense medications following policies and procedures and complete required documentation. Maintain complete and accurate patient records Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with healthcare procedures and regulations Adheres to infection-control protocols Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures Monitor and coordinate maintenance of equipment operation and inventory Check and maintain nursing supplies inventory Educate and instruct patients and family members on discharge instructions and home care needs Perform other duties as assigned Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Associate, bachelor or master's degree from an accredited nursing program Current RN licensure Mississippi Board of Nursing Certifications as required, based on area of work, such as BLS, CPR and ACLS relevant experience Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff Basic computer skills Professional, friendly attitude Excellent bedside manner In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures Working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Responsible and compassionate Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Physical Requirements: The RN must have the ability to move around freely, walk and stand for long periods of time; u se stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; u nderstand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance.
