Our Real Assets (RA) unit is currently seeking an Investment Officer (IO) II to perform a full range of duties under the direction of the Strategy, Portfolio Analytics, Research and Risk (SPARR) Associate Investment Manager (AIM) to assist in the Governance, top-down Research, and Risk initiatives in RA as they drive our CalPERS mission.
Duties include but are not limited to: Assist with enhancing research functions to synthesize data into internal RA reports, researching real assets property fundamentals and capital market trends, and report relevant information to the RA senior management team. Assist with researching real assets macro-economic trends and sector-level economic drivers. Examine the potential impact of trends on the RA Portfolio. Assist with producing and presenting the Research Overview and House View to RA staff. Support Governance processes and perform portfolio risk analytics. Monitor manager investment activity for policy compliance.  Interview Dates:  We anticipate interviews to be held one month from the final filing date. Telework Information : This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Possession of a business degree, or certifications such as CFA, CPA, CAIA, or other equivalent financial or accounting certifications. At least one year of experience working in the Real Estate or Infrastructure industry. Experience working on Real Assets research and/or governance projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work alone or in group settings. Experience working with Microsoft Suite products. Experience working with database systems and knowledge of data mining and data modeling. Possess a high degree of initiative, professionalism, confidentiality, and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be flexible and adjust to changes in priorities, assignments, and other interruptions that may impact pre-established timelines and courses of action. A comfort and appreciation for operating in a team and consensus driven environment is a key aspect underlying success in the CalPERS environment.
