Job Details:

Purpose

Collaborate with experts in competency-based training research, Army operational test & evaluation, and data analytics. Design and implement data engineering solutions for military training simulations and support projects across multiple domains in the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL).

Responsibilities

* Collaborate with the group lead and research team to design, develop, and implement data engineering solutions for military training simulations. Manage time and effort efficiently to meet project deadlines and contribute to team productivity. Take ownership of projects and actively contribute to their successful execution, ensuring alignment with our organization's goals.

* Work with simulation data and ensure its proper storage, processing, and retrieval for analysis and research purposes.

* Develop and maintain interoperability solutions to enhance the integration of various training, testing, and simulation platforms. Conduct software testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and verification to support development operations (DevSecOps). Write flexible and maintainable software code according to software best practices, emphasizing clean and efficient coding practices. Review peer-developed software to improve team designs and implementations, fostering a collaborative and innovative development environment.

* Deploy and support software delivered outside of ARL:UT, providing technical assistance to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, or a related field.

* Three years of related experience.

* Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, etc.).

* Experience with data engineering, data integration, and database management.

* Knowledge of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks.

* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

* Demonstrated passion for software development and an eagerness to contribute to applied research projects.

Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or other related discipline.

* Experience in developing and managing data interoperability solutions.

* Familiarity with military training simulations or related applications.

* Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for scalable data solutions.

* Previous experience in project management or leading data engineering initiatives.

* Contributions to open-source projects or personal coding projects related to data engineering and interoperability.

* 2+ years of relevant work experience in data engineering, software development, or related roles.

* Familiarity with commercial gaming technologies like Unity or Unreal.

* Cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Salary Range

$104,000-$174,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications
