The Supplier Quality Engineer has the role of deploying and facilitating the quality culture in Motion Drive Products, ensuring and controlling quality to exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations and representing the customer's voice within local teams, providing customer experience feedback and input.
In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Supplier Quality & Development Engineer team for delivering all aspects of the Supplier Quality Assurance function. Works in a team environment with suppliers to develop and implement best practices that emphasis defect prevention, reduction in variation, waste and safety and provide for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements.
Collects root cause analysis and provide corrective feedback to prevent production line stops due to suppler NCM (Non Conformance Management) parts issues.
Qualifies potential and existing external suppliers of direct materials. Responsible for quality surveillance audits at supplier manufacturing site and perform supply quality issue resolution including supplier claims preparation, leading supplier quality performance evaluation and supplier quality development activities. You will establish and maintain local supplier quality related procedures & practices, based on global procedures. This position reports to Quality Director
Your responsibilities Executing supplier qualifications to ensure the supply base is fully qualified and compliant. Conducting audits and assessments and driving gap closure activities Executing supplier manufacturing readiness via Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) guidelines. Approving supplier's quality systems, process, and ultimately the part. Conducting risk based surveillance audits of current supply base and driving supplier closure of all findings Leading and executing supplier non confirming material events. For supplier fault issues, preparing / sending a claims case as applicable. Ensuring root cause analysis of supplier nonconformance, following up and verifying the corrective actions. Proficient in the tools of cause investigation, such as PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act)/RCA (Root Cause Analysis)/8D/DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Implement, Control), etc Support other part non conformances events, from production scrap, 3PL (Third Party Logistics) provider, transportation Ensuring by Lean6Sigma and risk based methodologies, identifying needed improvements with supplier capabilities to ensure conformance with Customer and ABB requirements. Performing assessments to establish a fact based baseline of current state Developing, monitoring and reporting supplier performance (KPIs), quality issues and development actions. Securing that the results are shared with the supplier, internal plant operations personnel and internal supply chain personnel Provide concise, complete and accurate documentation of part inspection results Requiring close cooperation with category teams, buyers, Quality, Operations, HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), Product Engineering, R&D (Research and development) and Logistics, Production personnel amongst others Undertake special projects as required, plan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented Your background Bachelor's degree in engineering and 8 years of relevant experience in supplier quality and manufacturing Preferred Knowledge of print circuit cards, IGBT's, heat sinks, wire harnesses, sheet metal and plastic injected components Strong oral and written communication in English with problem solving and change management/facilitation skills. Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment Ability to prioritize, make decisions in difficult or ambiguous situation. Leadership and strong interpersonal skills Strong technical background and Microsoft office is must, SAP and Power BI experience will be a plus, managerial skill is preferred Be familiar with the understanding of engineering drawings and explain their requirements correctly and understanding manufacturing processes.
