Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Genome Technology Access Center at the McDonnell Genome Institute () was formed in 2019 and represents a union of the institutionâ™s two major genomics research facilities. provides access in a fee-for-service mode to all its genomics technologies and services to researchers at Washington University and beyond.


This position is responsible for receiving and/or purchasing storeroom supplies, including upkeep of inventory tracking system for assigned department. Asset tracking, review, and acceptance for assigned department. Assisting as needed for Preventative Maintenance visits to orchestrate between lab and vendor. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Storeroom Operations: Set up accounts, provide instruction to new users on storeroom procedures. Shipping and Receiving: Receive all deliveries to the assigned Department; Match all packing slips to the correct purchase order (PO) and make sure the deliveries go to the correct requestor; Prepare all outgoing shipments for the Department. Creating or Approving assigned Department Purchase Orders: Process POs as needed; Check pricing on POs; verify information is correctly reflected in the inventory tracking system. Inventory and Stocking: Inventory stock of consumable items which may include chemicals; order inventory; stock storeroom shelves. Accounting: Complete online accounting entries, code invoices with budget object codes, fund numbers, etc. Maintain Department Tracking Systems: Input incoming chemicals into departmentâ™s chemical tracking system (EHS Assist); maintain accuracy of the storeroomâ™s chemicals in EHS Assist; assist research lab personnel with keeping their labâ™s inventory correct in EHS Assist; set up new users in EHS Assist and give instruction for use and convey the importance of the system; maintain department assets, reviewing and tracking as needed. Assist in scheduling preventative maintenance visits between labs and vendors, includes updating tracking software. Back-Up supervisor and coworkers as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions
Must be able to lift and move 65 pounds on a regular basis, may need to how to use a pallet jack and various hand trucks (drum truck, dewar truck). There will be some exposure to loud noises and radioactive materials. There will be everyday exposure to chemicals and acids. Preferred Qualifications Certification to ship infectious substances, biological materials, chemicals and dry ice. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to communicate with a wide range of people (e.g. delivery people, graduate students, international students, professors, co-workers). Willingness and ability to learn new and specialized computer programs. Attention to detail. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent high school certificate. One year of prior work experience. University required EH&S certificate of training specific to department (to be completed on the job). Depending upon department, p ossess or obtain prior to employment Missouri Class E driver's license or equivalent. Grade G06-H Salary Range $17.52 - $26.27 / Hourly
