Position summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate psychiatrist to join our team at National Youth Advocate Program. As a psychiatrist you will play a crucial role in providing mental health services to individuals within the community who may not have access to traditional healthcare services.

The person in this position needs to follow a team concept and support both agency goals and co-workers. Employees must be able to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.

Responsibilities:
Clinical assessment: Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to asses the patients' mental health needs, including diagnostic interviews, reviewing medical histories, and collaborating with other health care professionals.
Treatment planning; develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patients unique needs, incorporating medication management, therapy and other interventions as appropriate.
Medication management; prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting dosages and treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes and minimize side effects.
Therapeutic interventions; Provide psychotherapy and counseling services to patients utilizing evidence- based approaches such as cognitive- behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectal behavior therapy (DBT), and supportive therapy.
Collaborative care; Coordinate with other members of health care team, including therapist, social workers, case managers, and primary care providers, to ensure integrated and comprehensive care for patients.
Community outreach; Participate in community outreach efforts to raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce stigma, and promote access to services within underserved populations underserved populations.
Education and training: provide education and training to staff members, interns, and community partners on topics related to mental health, psychiatric disorders, and evidence- based treatments.
Documentation and compliance: maintain accurate and up to date clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications:

Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Board certification or eligibility in psychiatry
Active state medical license and DEA registration
Experience working in community mental health settings preferred
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence- based treatments
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to cultural competence and serving diverse populations
Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a multidisciplinary team
