Full job description We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistan t to join our clients team on the far West side of Madison! The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records related to our property portfolio.
Position Overview: The position will be working with the Property Management Bookkeeper and Accounting team; with our Lease paperwork, and associated financial bookkeeping items.
Key Responsibilities: Record all financial transactions related to property management activities, including rent payments, expenses, invoices, and receipts. Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of accounting records. Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, following up on any outstanding balances or discrepancies. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for property owners and management. Assist with budgeting and forecasting for property expenses and income. Maintain organized and up-to-date financial files and documentation. Collaborate with property managers and landlords to address financial concerns and provide financial insights. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies. Assist with audits and tax preparation as needed. Continuously seek opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency in property accounting operations. Process accounts payable invoices accurately and timely, ensuring proper coding, approval, and payment. Assist with accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, billing, and collections. Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent AS degree in Business or Accounting preferred Previous bookkeeping or accounting support experience required Strong attention to detail Experience with computer systems and data processing Strong interpersonal skills Schedule: The position is full-time M-F – 8 hours/day. We have flexibility for hours to start as early as 7:30 am or as late as 9:00 am. The position is located at headquarters offices west of Madison (there may be the ability to have occasional work from home ability; depending on deadlines and job functions needing to be performed during the week, and after the person is fully trained and functioning up-to-speed) Pay: $20 - $25/hr. depending on experience
