The Dangerous Goods (DG) team is looking for a motivated Project Manager with strong regulatory experience, operational knowledge, logistics experience, and a hands-on passion to dive-deep into processes to support Amazon's growth in a safe environment for customers, partners, and associates.
Working across non-inventory procurement teams, transportation services, delivery experience, returns and re-commerce, technology, environmental, storage, legal, public policy, and other relevant internal teams at a global scale, this Project Manager will ensure the safety of our associates and transportation partners by delivering innovative solutions for the safe and compliant transportation of DG, redefining industry best practices and standards, and safely enabling an ever-changing borderless business model.
This Project Manager will be required to plan and execute DG policies, controls, and processes to ensure safe and compliant transportation of DG across a global supply chain. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, consultants and regulators, this role will be responsible for driving safety and compliance across customer deliveries and reverse logistics, enabling new selection, and expanding business and transportation models. This Project Manager will need to develop accurate and relevant metric-driven analysis to foster continuous improvement and step-function innovation that will enhance our internal and external customer experience.
Candidate must be seated in one of the corporate offices in Nashville, TN, Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA
Must have the ability to travel at least 25% of the time
Key job responsibilities
• Drive continuous improvement projects across global teams, ensuring Amazon is the leader transportation safety for non-inventory goods
• Manage a portfolio of projects aimed and building a best-in-class Dangerous Goods transportation system
• Drive process development and deployment for compliant transshipment of non-inventory sites throughout the Amazon network both domestically and internationally
• Convert large and complex projects into manageable pieces to deliver iterative improvements while focusing on longer-term, large-scale deliverables
• Build collaborative relationships with leaders across regions, departments and business units
• Refine existing program processes in order to more efficiently track and prioritize issues to enable the team to scale their work
• Provide input to technology teams to improve PO pre-screening, classification, and transportation restrictions as appropriate
• Anticipate project bottlenecks, manage escalations, make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus operational or technical constraints
• Audit Amazon nodes , and contracted 3rd party service providers receiving, storing, and shipping non-inventory items by developing mechanisms to insure compliance

The successful candidate will possess the ability to work across senior levels of leadership in multiple organizations to align on processes and proposed controls on a global scale while delivering high-quality work on time. This Project Manager will demonstrate excellent judgment and instincts in decision-making, and proactively and continually improve their level of knowledge about Amazon's businesses, fulfillment models, 3rd party logistics providers, and relevant technologies.

The Dangerous Goods team ensures the safety of our Customers, associates and carrier partners by delivering innovative solutions to ensure dangerous goods compliance, redefining industry best practices and standards, and safely enabling an ever-changing borderless business model.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Arlington, VA, USA | Nashville, TN, USA | Seattle, WA, USA BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - University degree or 8+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience leading cross-functional and cross-team projects
- Experience in e-commerce, distribution, retail or any other state of the art Supply Chain/Logistics industrial company
- 49 CFR Dangerous goods experience
