DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES The Project Manager reports directly to the Senior Project Manager of Economic Vitality, within the Department of Economic Development . The Project Manager coordinate s programs and initiatives for Wayne County. The Project Manager applies industry practices and organizational policies and procedures to manage key programs and resolve s a variety of issues; exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; and engages with internal departments, outside agencies and contractors, minority and disadvantaged business groups, and other public and private organizations, as well as stakeholders across the County. The position is responsible for supporting business growth, workforce development, and other economic development initiatives within Wayne County. This position also supports the services, contracts, funding, and projects associated with Economic Development to ensure effective service delivery, resource utilization, and results.
Applies industry practices and organizational policies and procedures to manage key programs and resolve a variety of issues. Manage s complex projects with multiple partners and internal team members, in a context of rapidly evolving priorities, and ensuring deliverables are on time and on budget. Assure s that the project is properly staffed and that the timely flow of information between all parties is maintained. Working with project teams, support facilitation of client and stakeholder meetings that advance project goals. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Engages with internal departments, outside agencies and contractors, minority and disadvantaged business groups, and other public and private organizations, as well as stakeholders across the County. Performs follow up via written communication and personal visits to companies and community officials on a regular basis to provide continual and high-quality assistance. Tracks, monitors, and records company and community needs and services provided to them. Maintains a complete record of all company and community related activity and interactions Participates in special projects and target market initiatives Conducts personal visits to local groups, communities and businesses to identify their needs and provide information regarding available local, regional, state and federal economic development resources and programs Provides technical assistance to local communities to begin or strengthen community-based economic development initiatives ELIGIBLE PERSONS At the time of application, eligible persons should have one of the following:
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Community Development, Business Administration or a related field is preferred, with at least three (3) years of experience in economic development, real estate, project management, planning, public administration, or other related professions; OR
At least seven (7) to ten (10) years of equivalent work experience and a high school diploma
