Full job description JOB TITLE: Program Manager, Community Engagement & DEI Initiatives (Full Time )
REPORTS TO: Managing Director, DEI Programs and Community Engagement FLSA: Exempt ($65K - $70K) ORGANIZATION MISSION
The National Civil Rights Museum, located at the historic Lorraine Motel, honors and
preserves the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. We chronicle the American civil rights
movement and tell the story of the ongoing struggle for human rights. We educate
and serve as a catalyst to inspire action to create positive social change.



POSITION SUMMARY


The Program Manager reports to the Managing Director, DEI Programs and
Community Engagement. The Program Manager is critical to the smooth operations
and development of Community Engagement and DEI Initiatives at the National Civil
Rights Museum. The ideal candidate will have a proven program and project
management track record and the ability to build and drive the programs that
support and sustain the organization's Community Engagement and DEI efforts.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to and works under the general direction of the Managing Director, DEI Programs and Community Engagement. Following the guidance and direction of the Managing Director, DEI Programs and Community Engagement manage the progress of community engagement
efforts by contributing to strategic planning and execution of community
engagement initiatives and programming. This position is for an individual with strong program, project, organizational, and administrative skills, a passion for community engagement, DEI, partnerships,
event planning, and a desire to be part of a team effort to present innovative
programs. Track, trend, and report metrics that will measure the effectiveness of Community Engagement initiatives and programs. Helps with facilitating the planning and implementation of DEI, community engagement, and partnership programs. Regularly communicate with partners and clients to arrange meetings, confirm program schedules, and discuss any program problems. Collaborate with various NCRM departments to confirm that assigned programs are completed according to specifications, budgets, and timelines. Regularly communicates with management regarding the program status and any problems or potential problems. Forecasts potential schedule delays and develops alternate plans. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Manages general correspondence and requests for information via phone, email, and letters.

Provide directions and assistance with meetings and program logistics. Maintain confidential records and files, handle confidential correspondence and records.

Manage purchase orders and invoices. Collaborate across departments based on needs. Provides all project management functions. Develop project plans, including identification of tasks, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, etc.

Identify key deliverables and ensure that they meet previously defined expectations and requirements.

Schedule project and program meetings, develop agenda and documents. Prepare program documents (curriculum, pre/post-work, run of show, handouts, surveys, etc.)

Work effectively with project and program vendors (project team, consultants, stakeholders, subject matter experts, etc.)

Develop engaging, informative, and well-organized executive level presentations.

Ability to perform tasks using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams); graphic design software (Adobe), project management
software, survey software, Zoom and/or other digital meeting platforms, and
social media. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Prepare regular status reports. Must be able to meet deadlines.

OTHER FUNCTIONS The Program Manager performs additional functions (essential or otherwise), which may be assigned from time to time. The position may require work on
weekends, nights, and holidays to accommodate facility programming and
utilization. Must attend monthly museum wide staff meetings.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in the Museum and in a typical office setting of a multi-level, multi-site complex with some outdoor work required when attending
various functions associated with Museum.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and 3 – 5+ years related experience or experience equivalent. Minimum of 2 years' experience in community engagement and knowledge of DEI. Proven, progressive experience and demonstrated effectiveness, initiating, and supporting Community Engagement programs. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and interface effectively with all levels of the organization. Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in facilitating, leading by influence, and presenting clear and progressive works. Experience leading community engagement programs and training and developing necessary materials. Experience facilitating high stakes/sensitive conversations. Able to make sound judgments, be attentive and engage in a positive interactive relationship with visitors, volunteers, and other Museum Staff.

Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. Ability to work in a self-directed capacity. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Must possess a valid State Driver's license. Please submit your resume to Veda Ajamu
