Position Summary: This position is responsible for contributing to the success of the Iowa Institute of Public Health Research and Policy (IIPHRP) by leading poison prevention programs with the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), training of public health professionals, policy manual edits and updates for prevention of childhood blood toxins.
Operational Support and Management: Coordinate and administer the daily operational activities associated with the IDPH lead poisoning prevention program and other activities that are supported by the IIPHRP including conferences, seminars, trainings, and outreach activities. Analyze program data, develop reports, and oversee activities including ongoing coordination of events. Manage and administer the deliverable activities of the IDPH lead poisoning prevention program and other projects as assigned. Manage, plan, and facilitate multidisciplinary statewide workgroups. Coordinate and administer activities related to collecting and translating data for the lead program. Manage outreach events for the IIPHRP, including training events, learning collaboratives, and conferences. Coordinate training, scheduling, and oversight of volunteers, work study students, graduate assistants, and program staff. Present information about the IDPH lead poisoning prevention program to new partners. Provide information at vendor tables, and at conferences as needed. Provide support for Executive Director including budget preparation, preparing reports, organizing program files, and other administrative duties as assigned. Leadership/Supervision: May provide functional supervision for program staff. Provide functional and/or administrative supervision for students. Provide direction, assignments, and feedback to students and program staff to assure program outcomes are achieved. Financial Responsibility: In coordination with IIPHRP Executive Director, manage contract deliverables. Advise Executive Director on budgetary needs or discrepancies. In coordination with grant billing specialists, ensuring billing for deliverable-based contracts. Research grant opportunities, develop grant proposals, and assist with grant writing to support the program. Budget and monitor event/promotion expenditures. Manage inventory and initiate purchasing requests for vendor table and conference supplies including vendor contracts, print orders, general supplies, and other items. Strategic Planning: Assist in the overall growth and implementation of the program. Manage the preparation of program strategic plans through development of Gantt charts for contracted programs. In coordination with IIPHRP Executive Director, manage the creation of proposals for contract deliverables and budgets for upcoming funding years. Communication and Outreach: Communicate and collaborate with outside agencies or individuals (state agencies, community agencies, and partners across the state) regarding IIPHRP programs. Serve as liaison for IIPHRP and internal or external organizations for broadcasting our information to target audiences through social media and list servs. Manage, coordinate, organize, and administer the various IIPHRP platforms (Powtoons, Canva, Zoom Webinar License, Thinkific). Manage updates of IIPHRP webpages regularly to reflect current information and opportunities. Develop marketing materials for IIPHRP Programs. Build collaborative partnerships with community organizations, regionally and across the state. Gather and provide information using available resources. Provide and seek information as needed from funding partners. Serve as liaison with partners and staff inside and outside the IIPHRP regarding matters related to the IDPH lead poisoning prevention project. Create and coordinate dissemination of project social media content and sharing. Quality Improvement :
Evaluate programs to improve and strengthen overall program offerings. Facilitate new program offerings within the approved scope of the project. Required Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, proactively making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. Ability to follow-up and multi-task with minimal supervision and be highly responsive in a deadline-oriented environment. Experience in pre and post award management of federal and privately funded research grants and contracts.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
· Experience developing needs assessments and implementing continuous training based on assessments.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Driver's License and a bility to occasionally travel overnight and meet the requirements of the University Fleet Safety Program driving standard.
· Demonstrated experience with program coordination.
Highly Desired Qualifications: · Master's degree in public health.
Desired Qualifications: · Experience in conception, planning and implementation of outreach activities.
· Experience in writing assistance and proofreading grant proposals.
· Some knowledge of university practices, rules, and regulations.
