Description
Kentucky State Police is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. With the highest level of professionalism and integrity the Kentucky State Police works to prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime; enhance highway safety through education and enforcement; protect and safeguard individual rights; and provide leadership, training, technical, and operational support to the criminal justice community.
This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non- merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Primary Role: This position is the primary personnel obtaining and maintaining the data associated with cases from the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI).
This information is utilized by the Kentucky State Police and other state and nation entities in determining cases that may be eligible for additional analyses and review. This position also assists with tracking cases submitted to vendor laboratories and compiling metrics for the associated grants.
Key Responsibilities: Search archived statewide records to identify sexual assault kits located at police agencies that need DNA testing. Communicate with investigators statewide for submission of the kits to the laboratory. Performs data entry from cold cases into a specialized database on the REDCap platform. Tracks kits from agencies throughout the state sent for genealogical or other specialized testing by vendor laboratories. Consult with agencies statewide on available evidence for specialty testing. Coordinate with the vendor labs with shipping and invoicing. Updates kit tracking website for victims statewide to see the status of the testing on their kits. Coordinates with the investigators statewide to get updates from agencies in cases where there has been a DNA database hit to the sexual assault kit. Obtain information on cases as they progress through the court process. Assists laboratory management in compiling data for quarterly metrics for grants. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional experience in management or administration.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Administrative or business experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
