Position Overview: The Spark Program Associate Director is responsible for the daily operations and implementation of the programs set forth by the Director for the Spark, through the supervision of the supervisor and student employee teams, implementing procedural standards and guidelines to insure an inclusive, collaborative, and safe space is maintained in all Spark endeavors. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; substitute education for experience only.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Thorough knowledge of program related state and federal laws and regulations.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations orally and in writing.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Strong foundation in assessment, with knowledge or familiarity with the framework for program evaluation including design, data collection, data analysis, and reporting. Ability to maintain professionalism and integrity. Entrepreneurial mindset – comfort with taking educated risks, excitement to pilot new ideas, research best practices, and reflect on the experience for continuous improvement. Experience developing and managing an innovative or emerging technology space or artist in residency program. Prior experience coordinating a shared workspace. Prior experience creating with digital and fabrication technologies. Ability to quickly learn new pieces of technology, including digital fabrication equipment and design software. Strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly through various methods including visual communication, written and oral communications, and so forth. Experience taking a leadership role in teams, demonstrates an open, collaborative leadership style. An effective collaborator, team builder, and instructor who is skilled at leveraging the talents of others and solving problems. Ability to plan and carry out complex schedules for program areas of different sizes. Creative spirit and collaborative nature Ability to take the initiative, work independently, and troubleshoot in a fast paced, work environment. Strong organizational and time management skills Passion for and understanding of the mission and vision of the Spark. Demonstrated experience and/or ability to adapt in a highly matrixed organization committed to advancing the strategic direction of the Spark. Ability to plan and organize, evaluate and analyze, mentor and coach others Adept at establishing priorities, problem solving, critical thinking and decision making Aptitude for cultivating effective working relationships Capacity to assimilate, retain and utilize innovative equipment/systems/applications. Demonstrated ability to relay complex information in a simplified manner and appropriate tone and tempo for a variety of audiences • Exhibits exceptional customer service Prior experience with specific equipment and applications that may be used in innovative spaces such as makerspaces or fab-labs. Strong understanding of equipment safety, training and safety planning for equipment and events Thorough knowledge of program related state and federal laws and regulations. o: Develops and maintains effective, applicable action plans based on assessment of Program(s) need to effectively meet the goals as set by Director. Implements Program plan for the Spark by coordinating program logistics with Spark staff including organizing equipment and supply set up/take down, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment and supporting appropriate promotion of programs and services from the Spark. Maintains cohesive vision and mission for the Spark team though organizing, scheduling, implementing and evaluating engaging innovative maker programs for patrons of all ages.
o: Develops and conducts appropriate assessment of program activities and effectiveness for outcome reports, using data to determine program effectiveness, needs for growth and success, and development of recommendation and contribution to strategic planning.
o: Oversight and direct management of the front line supervisory team and student team for all Spark locations. Demonstrates sound personnel decisions for best fit for Program needs to insure knowledge, and safety requirements are met, including maintaining compliance with any and all Federal/State/UNT Law, Policy, Guideline for programs.
o: Oversees operations of the spark including maintaining inventory and storage of program tools and supplies; administering a sustainable system for equipment maintenance by vendors and staff; developing and implementing safety, equipment and other training and procedures, and providing individual and group coaching and instruction to patrons of all ages, levels and abilities. Maintains current, advanced knowledge of all tools, materials and processes available in the spaces.
o: Safety rules and guidelines are to be appropriately developed, assessed and implement for each location, in compliance with applicable laws, and best practices for each audience for every Spark program. Regular and routine evaluation and updating to maintain a functional and safe makerspace.
