Student Assistants work in the Plexus Women in STEM Center (Sesquicentennial Hall 250) which is a study and resource space designed to support students' academic success, with an emphasis on supporting women. Our mission is to recruit and retain more women in underrepresented STEM fields.
Positions require approximately 6-10 hours per week with additional hours the week of big events. The position requires 5-6 desk hours, one-hour staff meeting and 1-2 committee meetings per week. We strive to accommodate your academic schedule as much as possible, recognizing that your studies come first. This role is an outstanding opportunity to improve your leadership skills and learn event planning and time management skills. Additionally, you will mentor young girls and support fellow women pursuing STEM majors.
After a year with us, you can apply to become a lead student assistant, further enhancing your leadership abilities. Benefits of working in the Women in STEM Program include networking with industry professionals, collaborating with faculty members, enjoying free meals, and being part of a supportive community of women with shared goals.
Additionally, we are seeking committee members for our college programming events, which usually occur once a month or less. You won't be assigned to every committee, but you will have the flexibility to select the ones that most interest you.

3) Women in STEM Professional Mentor Program
4) Women in STEM Semester Events and Finals Feast (once a semester for each)

3) Pioneering Your Future in STEM (Feb and March)

You can also be a SQH/Busby tour guide and help present at academic meetings if that interests you.
