Responsibilities:
Accurately assign appropriate medical codes to patient records using ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems.
Review and meticulously analyze medical documentation to ensure precise code assignment.
Collaborate closely with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve any coding discrepancies.
Ensure strict compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and reimbursement policies.
Stay updated on coding changes and industry developments to ensure knowledge currency.
Provide assistance with medical billing, collection, and recordkeeping processes as required.
Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing coding accuracy and efficiency.
Experience:
Demonstrated experience in a Coding Specialist role or similar position within a medical office or healthcare environment.
Proficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
Sound knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems.
Familiarity with medical billing and collection procedures.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments.
Ability to work autonomously while meeting deadlines.
