Position will deliver enhanced seed products, data insights, and prescriptions to the Product Development pipeline through utilization of accelerated breeding schemes and innovations in genomics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, and functional genomics.YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary responsibilities of this role,Product Design Scientist (Crop Science), are: Execute the technical strategy to design improved cohorts of germplasm that are aligned with Product Concept targets from initial crossing through the handoff to Product Development;Leverage model outputs to achieve measurable improvement of quantitative traits under selection and develop phenomics strategies to improve our prescriptive testing;Foster strong collaborative relationships with field testing, data science, engineering, molecular breeding, logistics, trait integration, Product Development, Market Development, and Commercial organizations to deliver a robust product pipeline;Ensure meaningful knowledge and data transfer during transition points per crop cycle timelines;Contribute strong technical expertise in quantitative genetics research projects for breeding program design and optimization, breeding goal definition, optimization of automated crossing processes, genetic evaluation, and optimization of data acquisition for Product Design;Perform simulations to improve resources allocation and pipeline optimization;Support quantitative genetics projects on implementation of Precision Breeding technical innovations in Product Design;Support the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture;Identify key areas of opportunity for new technology implementation and/or process improvement, while positively contributing to a collaborative, innovative, and design-centric culture.WHO YOU AREYour success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE (Leadership Integrity Flexibility Efficiency) values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. OR Master's degree in Genetics (human, animal or plant) Plant Breeding, Animal Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Data Science or other relevant scientific field(degree to be completed by October 1, 2024);Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and multi-cultural teams to achieve common goals as well as leading and influencing activities of teams without direct reporting relationships;Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities while facilitating solutions;Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSFive or more years of relevant experience in breeding programs, genetics or applied data science projects (to include academic or industrial experience post undergraduate);Familiarity with and a demonstrated ability to perform data analysis with large biological datasets.Position will be located in Chesterfield, Missouri (St. Louis area).Domestic relocation may be available for this role.Position may include opportunity to work up to 40% remote. #LI-AMSUSYOUR APPLICATIONBayer offers a wide variety of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
