About the Process Engineer Role Working as a Process Engineer at Intech will give you the opportunity to learn the start-to-finish process of creating a complex spinal and orthopedic instrument. You will use sound and proven engineering principles, best practices, and concepts to assist in developing processes and process requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Designing and developing manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes and new products, and related fixtures, tooling and gaging to include machining, blasting, welding, assembly laser marking, etc. Troubleshoot manufacturing processes at the shop floor level. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization. Determines the parts, equipment and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications. Create or assist in creation of Laser Marking programs, CNC programs, 3D models, associated fixturing, drawings, templates, and overlays. Follow initial production lots through production process, identifying and eliminating potential concerns and problems, answering operator questions, and inspecting initial lot or first piece at Final Inspection to ensure identified procedures are followed and concerns are eliminated prior to full production. Actively participate in DFM reviews with customers concerning drawings, 3D models and specifications to facilitate manufacturability. Create and coordinate project timelines and associated process flows in order to understand, communicate and meet production schedules. Create, request or update various documentation pertaining to product such as inspection forms, customer-specific requirements, forecasting, quality agreements, routings and BOMs. Define, write and communicate various process and inspection requirements as product demands. Determine and develop layout, prints and tolerance analysis of components and devices. Analyze customer specifications and determine new product design criteria. Oversee the transition from design into production, including any necessary testing and tooling required for implementing new or changed designs. Make cost effective decisions and create processes aligned with feedback and production capability. Accountable for design accuracy, functionality, engineering process and documentation provided to the production floor.
Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of tool drawings and design concepts. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: Thoroughly understands how to read and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts on part prints to effectively run quality parts. Advanced mathematical abilities to include knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and their applications. Experience with CAD Autodesk Inventor Preferred. Critical thinking and advanced decision-making skills. Proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to identify different materials and their relationship to design (form, fit, and function). High level of attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping capability. Excellent prioritization and organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and document work instructions, blueprints, routers, and standard operating procedures. Ability to collaborate and assist team members, provide input to the area lead, and attend/participate effectively in meetings. Ability to communicate and interact effectively, professionally, and constructively. Comply with and maintain 5S and safe work environment practices. Must be adaptable to a changing environment, competing demands and is able to deal well with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Job Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in Process Engineer role and advanced operation. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field; or equivalent combination of related experience and/or training. Technical degree preferred. Will accept High School Diploma, GED, Trade School, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years in ISO/FDA machine shop, contract manufacturer experience.
